Are you a smoothie lover or a juice lover? I'm both. In fact, green juice is my first breakfast to survive the turmoil of getting everyone ready to leave the house for school and work and the smoothie my second breakfast to celebrate the calmness of having all kids out of the house.
Building a perfect smoothie is not difficult. However, it is important to not commit some common smoothie mistakes, about which I'm talking in the video above.
Basic Recipe for a Perfect Smoothie
4-6 oz (120-180 ml) base liquid (nut milk, herbal tea, coconut water)
1/2 cup organic fruit (don't overdo it with fruit, a perfect smoothie should be mostly veggies)
sweetener of choice (optional): 2 dates, stevia
2 cups vegetables (seasonal leaffy greens, mint leaves, cucumber, beet etc.)
Healthy fat: avocado, nut butter
2 tbsp protein (protein powder, nut butter, whey powder, spirulina)
1 tbsp nuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, raw cacao nibs, hemp seeds, superfood powders (acai, maca etc.)
pinch of salt (optional)
Place all ingredients into a blender. Pulse a few minutes. Enjoy!
